Snail Mail
Slow down. Something small is on its way.
Snail Mail will be a monthly drop of hand-crafted ceramic snails and slugs, released in limited numbers and evolving month by month. No two ever quite the same. Like the creatures that inspire them, they arrive quietly, carrying their own subtle character and charm..
This month’s drop is Mwg, which means smoke in Welsh.
Which is fitting as the next Snail Mail drop has emerged from fire and smoke.
Think atmospheric and haunting clouds, errie and mysterious. These creatures emerge from the raku carrying their own traces of their fiery journey, some dark and stormy, others softly veiled in smoke.
Whilst these smoky snails and slugs have survived the intense firing some haven’t survived completely scar free and have some kintsugi repairs which truly mean no two are quite the same.
As the surface of the clay is unglazed, these slugs and snails have been finished with a polish of renaissance wax.
